Unexplained Stories
Something Hairless Is Climbing Walls in Mexico’s Valle de Juárez
Something strange was moving along a wall in Mexico’s Valle de Juárez. Its pale body was almost completely hairless, its limbs were unusually long, and a thin tail stretched behind it as it climbed.
The creature had been caught on camera, but that wasn’t the only thing frightening people in the area. Families had been finding dead animals around their properties, and stories were spreading about an unfamiliar visitor appearing after dark.
Now investigators have released photographs and video footage of the mysterious animal, giving people their first good look at what has been wandering through the valley.
A Strange Visitor Near the Border
The Valle de Juárez lies in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, just south of the United States. Small communities, farms, and stretches of open desert surround the area, where people are accustomed to seeing wildlife moving through the countryside.
But the animal appearing around homes and farm buildings was unlike anything residents were used to seeing.
Some described a pale creature with long limbs and a narrow body. Others had seen something moving along walls and climbing surfaces that would have been difficult for an ordinary animal to manage.
On October 14, 2026, a camera trap captured footage of the mysterious visitor between seven and eight in the evening. The recording showed a nearly hairless animal moving around a structure, its unusual proportions making it difficult to identify.
Mexican journalist and paranormal investigator Jaime Maussan became involved in the case. His team gathered photographs, video recordings, and accounts from people who had encountered the creature.
When the images began circulating publicly, people far beyond Chihuahua started taking an interest in what was happening near the border.
The Creature With the Long Tail
The animal’s appearance was one of the first things to catch investigators’ attention. Its skin looked pale and wrinkled, with almost no visible hair, while its elongated limbs gave it an unusual outline.
Its tail was especially striking, extending far behind its body as it moved. Maussan compared the shape of its head to a gargoyle, a description that quickly caught people’s attention.
In one recording, the creature climbed a tall boundary wall. Another showed an animal descending a tree, moving with an agility that surprised the people studying the footage.
The different sightings also raised questions about its size.
Some estimates placed its body at roughly 40 centimetres long, with a tail extending another 70 centimetres or more. Other accounts described a much larger animal, measuring between 1.3 and 1.8 metres from head to tail.
There were even descriptions of the creature standing on its hind legs. In that position, its long limbs and narrow body gave it an almost human shape.
Maussan’s team also discussed its ability to jump several metres and grip surfaces with long fingers. The footage showed a creature comfortable climbing into places where people wouldn’t expect to find an animal of that appearance.
Residents were becoming increasingly concerned about what might be roaming around their homes, especially after what had been happening to their animals.
Something Was Attacking the Animals
Families in the area had been finding chickens, roosters, and rabbits dead or injured. There were also accounts involving livestock, leaving people worried that a dangerous predator was moving between properties at night.
During interviews about the investigation, Maussan described incidents in which as many as 20 or 30 birds could be killed in a single night.
For families who kept animals in enclosed yards and small farm buildings, those numbers were frightening. Whatever was attacking the animals seemed capable of causing considerable damage before anyone noticed it was there.
Reports came from communities around Ciudad Juárez, including Los Ojitos, El Pocito, and Camino Real. The sightings covered several locations rather than one isolated property.
People began paying closer attention to the walls, fences, and rooftops surrounding their homes.
The recordings had shown an animal capable of climbing surprisingly high surfaces. A wall that normally kept wildlife out might not be much of an obstacle for something able to move the way this creature did.
As more people shared their experiences, investigators started looking for connections between the sightings.
The Investigation Got Bigger
Maussan’s team included correspondents who collected local accounts and examined photographs and video recordings. Eduardo Gamaliel was among those involved in presenting images of the creature.
The investigators studied its shape and movements, comparing what they could see with familiar animals such as rats, opossums, and raccoons.
They were especially interested in the differences between the recordings. Some showed a small, narrow-bodied animal, while other descriptions suggested something considerably larger.
That raised the possibility that more than one creature was moving through the area.
Maussan also discussed earlier incidents dating back to July 2026. By the time the October footage appeared, his team was examining a series of encounters stretching across several months.
The investigation began attracting wider attention on October 21 and 22, when photographs and video clips circulated through Mexican news outlets and social media.
People studied the creature’s face, the length of its tail, and the way it moved across walls. Others began sharing stories about similar animals they had heard about or encountered elsewhere.
Before long, one particular name started appearing in conversations.
It was a name that had frightened people across Latin America for decades.
The Return of the Chupacabras
For anyone familiar with the old stories of the chupacabras, the creature in Chihuahua had an unsettling resemblance.
The legend became famous during the 1990s after strange animal deaths and sightings in Puerto Rico. Stories soon spread through Mexico and other parts of Latin America, where people described mysterious predators appearing around farms and attacking livestock.
Descriptions of the chupacabras varied from place to place. Some witnesses spoke about a creature with long limbs and an unusual face, while others described something that could move on two legs or run on all fours.
What connected the stories was the fear of an unfamiliar animal arriving during the night and leaving dead livestock behind.
Now people in the Valle de Juárez were dealing with their own mysterious visitor. The hairless body, unusual movements, and attacks on animals had brought the old stories back.
Some began calling it a new chupacabras.
Others compared the creature to a nahual, a supernatural being from Mexican folklore associated with people who can transform into animals.
The comparisons gave the investigation another layer of mystery. People who had grown up hearing these legends were now watching recordings of something strange moving through a real community near the border.
For the residents whose animals had been attacked, the photographs were more than a curiosity. They wanted to know what was coming onto their properties and whether it would return.
